Fonts

A list of fonts that I thought were really interesting and which I'd like to at some point use in a project of some sort. Focus lies more on less popular fonts, rather than mentioning omnipresent ones likes Inter or Helvetica.

  • IBM VGA8 PxPlus: I love this font <3

  • Gelica: Looks like a very nice font for print, especially posters or flyers

  • P22 Mackinac: The font used on the fly.io website. At least this is where I first came across it and really liked how it looked and how they used it. Looks like a very good font for when you want a serif font for your website, which is becoming super popular with everyone vibecoding feature pages for their AI slop product.

  • Redaction: The idea of this font is super creative. It is one of those fonts for which you don't have an immediate use, but just know you'll come across something where it'll be a perfect-fit and will have amazing results

  • Exposure: Similar to Redaction in the sense that it is a very creative idea and will be amazing for a very specific thing. Came across it on the peak design website, and very much liked how a font that took inspiration from photography is used by a company that is (partially) geared towards photographers.

  • SN Pro: My favourite playful font for text. Fits in perfectly with note-taking, or any kind of text really.

  • Departure Mono: I so want to use it for some retro-looking thing, something departure board related, or anything of those sorts. The showcase on the website shows it best and I adore it very much

  • TT2020: A true to life typewriter font. This filled a need I didn't know I had until I saw the font. Created because good digital recreations of what a page printed by a typewriter are hard to come by. Each variant takes a base font (variants of IBM Selectric) and adds mutations to each glyph via GIMP scripts which a physical typewriter would also produce. For each glyph there are 9 generated versions which pseudo-randomly get chosen, so that it is unlikely that nearby glyphs share the same one (a major criticism of other attempts).

  • Cherry Swash: Whimsy, but somehow also modern

  • Space Mono and Space Grotesk: Two fonts with a similar style, with one being monospace. The style is quite bold and choosing this for a product or website is as well. Therefore I really want to use them for something A few other fonts I like / thought were interesting also have a similar style:

  • Libre Baskerville: Just a nice looking serif font

  • Libertinus Serif: Also known as the default serif font used by typst. Not far fetched that it is very good for print
